Solar-Powered Path Light Developed Using Simmonsigns’ Solar Panel
Solar technology is being used in every walk of life to help tackle climate change and improve sustainability across all sectors. In recent years, we have seen an acceleration in the design and development of solar-powered road safety equipment, including street and pathway lighting.
Currently, the UK-built environment accounts for 45% of total UK carbon emissions, with 27% coming from domestic buildings. To reduce this by a measured amount, the sustainable building standards require all developers to install – as an integral part of any development – a minimum of 10% renewable energy.
Simmonsigns has been working in collaboration with OG2 Lighting supplying our solar panel for use on their solar-powered pathway light. The device has been designed from the bottom up to provide both an aesthetically and technically advanced solution for solar lighting in the UK. The use of this unique solar light is an easy win for any housing developer who wants to meet the 10% target.
This innovative product can be used primarily as a pathway light, but may also be deployed when upgrading obsolete installations where the mains supply must be disconnected, car park lighting, and amenity lighting for public spaces. The tried and tested solar panel will deliver year round power and the 360 degree LED light ensures maximum light coverage on the ground.
