The Government’s ongoing support package for Local Authorities recovering from the impact of Covid-19 will include investment opportunities for important and ongoing street works. Funds are being released in tranches to provide vital financial support for initiatives that aim to make returning to ‘normal life’ much safer.

This includes providing support for dividing roads, as well as additional funding for cycle lanes and paths to be improved. Where required, roads will need to be reconfigured to allow for adequate social distancing or awareness that the current layout has changed. Whether it is a one-way system through a busy town centre, or the widening of paths, the funds available can be used for various purposes.

Cambridgeshire County Council has recently ordered ten solar-powered Smart Pulsa units to temporarily reduce the speed of traffic to 20mph around schools during drop-off and pick-up times.
