Solar-Powered Pedestrian Crossings Benefit Retail Car Parks
With our recent focus on promoting “a greener future for safer roads“, we take a look back at how our range of solar products has benefited various retailers across the UK, specifically in this instance, Tesco and ASOS.
With over 30 years of experience within the industry, Simmonsigns are proud to have designed and manufactured a wide range of effective road safety solutions, with our newest solar additions delivering the same excellent performance whilst simultaneously helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
Solar-powered Belisha beacon in Tesco car park
Back in October 2020, our Solabel Belisha beacon was installed in the Padstow store of Tesco car park. Naturally, any supermarket car park will attract a high level of traffic and Tesco wanted to ensure their crossing areas remained safe for their customers, day and night, no matter the weather.
Using a low-impact design solar panel, the Solabel helps to alert vehicle drivers to upcoming crossings, allowing pedestrians to move with confidence across the car park, whilst the solar element helps to reduce the carbon footprint.
Solar Belisha beacon installed at ASOS
As a low maintenance product, our Solabel is easy to install and free of any cable network requirement. In March 2020, XPO Logistics agreed that this was the perfect solution for illuminating the busy crossing at the ASOS distribution centre.
With flashing lights to draw attention, coupled with the unobtrusive solar panel, the installation provided peace of mind that an area with high levels of footfall would now be approached cautiously by oncoming vehicles, alerting them to be on the lookout for pedestrians at all times.
Solar-powered road safety solutions
Our range of solar-powered products includes the Solabel Belisha beacon, the Solar LUA sign light, and the Solar Pulsa and Solar Pulsa 4×4 school warning signals.
