Simmonsigns 2020: A Year Like No Other

Despite the many challenges we have faced this year, Simmonsigns has remained open throughout, providing essential services that have helped to maintain and improve road safety for everyone.

First of all, a big thank you to our fantastic team. We have all worked hard together to ensure that our high standards have continued during this challenging time and for that, we thank you.

We would also like to thank all of our suppliers and customers. Your continued support in this difficult time has allowed us to remain open and will ensure we can deliver road safety solutions into 2021 and beyond.

At the start of the year, we saw the installation of our solar-powered Belisha beacon, Solabel, at an ASOS distribution centre. Since then, our range of pedestrian crossing beacons and lit posts have been delivered and installed at over 3,500 different sites this year. Including several Solabel units at a busy car park in Padstow, Cornwall for the supermarket chain, Tesco.

Despite the challenges faced, Simmonsigns was proud to be able to invest in new technology this year. During the summer we invested over £250,000 in a state of the art rotational-moulding machine that speeds up production and gives us more control over our supply chain. With over 10,000 road safety bollards manufactured in our Telford factory this year, the new roto moulding machine is an investment in our future self-reliance at Simmonsigns.

The Covid-19 pandemic had many influences on our daily lives. A sharp increase in people walking and cycling to and from work, or for exercise, was one of them. This meant that road safety improvements have been an imperative this year. Our commitment to improving road safety for everyone saw us manufacture and deliver over 15,000 LUA and LUB sign lights across the UK and recently we dispatched our 1,400th Safe-Way subway light of the year.

As the year has progressed, several projects have been delivered that we are particularly proud of. From the addition of our Guardian Flex height warning system at both Heathrow Airport and at Royal Mail’s new site in London, to the Lumiflex bollard installation as part of the new A66 road layout. Our team have gone above and beyond to ensure a constant flow of project work. Make sure you visit our case studies to see the hard work that we have been doing.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Stay safe, and we will see you all in 2021.

Please note: The last despatch for orders is Monday 21st December 2020 for delivery on Tuesday 22nd December. Simmonsigns will be closed from 2pm on 23rd December, re-opening at 8:30am on 4th January 2021.
