Simmonsigns Products Improve Pedestrian Crossing

Product: Extended Modupost with Midustar Belisha beacon

Location: Aurs Drive, Barrhead, East Renfrewshire

Contact: East Renfrewshire Council

Working in partnership with J.M.Anderson, we were asked by the client at East Renfrewshire Council to supply a fully lit installation to improve the pedestrian crossing at Aurs Drive, Barrhead. Situated on a busy junction, the crossing serves the local Resource Centre so a highly visible solution was required.

This upgrade included using our 6m extended Modupost fitted with a Midustar Belisha beacon and an additional LED lantern to further illuminate the crossing. The installation was installed in a NAL socket enabling future maintenance and removal in the event of any road traffic accidents (RTA) without the need for further excavation.

Our Sales Director, Steve Keary, said “We were delighted to be involved in this project and are very pleased with the results. The crossing is now highly visible, both day and night, offering a safer route for pedestrians to and from the Resource Centre. I’d like to thank East Renfrewshire Council for giving us the opportunity to work with the Authority and also Gavin Bradley from J.M.Anderson who enabled an extremely smooth delivery of the project by servicing the Council with our product. J.M.Anderson continue to provide an invaluable service to all of our Scottish customers”.

The Modupost is a high performance, illuminated post system featuring a robust design with a low energy and low maintenance LED light source. It is available as a 3m installation, with a post-top Belisha beacon or a 6m version including a mid-post Belisha beacon with a 3m post extension to enable a pedestrian crossing lantern fitting, if required. In addition, the 3m Modupost can also be supplied with a Spotlight to give additional lighting at the crossing entrance points. The vandal-resistant post enhances both day-time and night-time visibility, encouraging drivers to slow down when approaching a crossing.
