Product: Modupost
Customer: Colchester Zoo
Location: Essex County Council
Following its temporary closure due to the government's lockdown measures, Colchester Zoo reopened to the public in April 2021. A redevelopment project during the downtime has seen a new admissions building built for visitors, enhanced car park facilities, new road safety measures, and improved zebra crossings in busy pedestrian areas.
On average, one million people visit the zoo in Essex each year. With plans for a new car park and arrival layout, Colchester Zoo contacted Simmonsigns interested in our Modupost pedestrian crossing posts.
The pedestrian crossing device is a high quality, illuminated post system featuring a robust design with low energy and low maintenance LED light source. It is available with either a post-top beacon or a mid-post beacon with a post extension enabling floodlight fitting.
The Modupost features a corrosion-resistant base section, LED illuminated stem, and highly-visible Belisha beacon. The vandal-resistant post enhances day and night-time visibility encouraging drivers to slow down on approach to a crossing.
Area Sales Manager, Duncan Wells, said, “We were delighted that we supported this project primarily through adding our illuminated posts and Belisha beacons to the new pedestrian crossings which will provide additional safety to families visiting the zoo."
