LUA Sign Light Upgrade For Surrey County Council

Client: Skanska Construction, Surrey

Product: LUA Sign Light

Installation details:

In 2020, Skanska Construction was awarded a large Illuminated Street Furniture (ISF) project. This energy efficient project included replacing or upgrading Surrey County Council's stock of illuminated road signs.

The Simmonsigns LUA sign light has been widely used in Surrey for many years and we were delighted that we were asked to be part of the ISF sign light replacement scheme.

We successfully supported Skanska by manufacturing and delivering over 2,000 low energy LED sign lights over a three-month period. With open dialogue and pre-planning, we worked with the Skanska project team to ensure we met all their requirements, with final deliveries being ahead of the project target completion date.

The LUA has long-lasting, high performance LEDs that are optically engineered to provide light output and uniformity to classification E3 UE3. There is also an option to upgrade older LUA sign lights to LED by simply replacing the lighting gear tray unit. The LUA also has a solar powered option for road signs up to 600mm in size.

Skanska Operations Manager, Stuart Shand, said, “The Simmonsigns team delivered a fantastic service that improved month after month to fit our program. It was honestly a pleasure working with Simmonsigns on this project.

Simmonsigns' South East Sales Manager, Duncan Wells, commented, “From the offset, the team at Skanska made us feel an important part of the project and we were delighted to be involved. We, as a team, take great satisfaction that we delivered on time during such a challenging year, working closely with Skanska on providing an excellent service to Surrey CC.
