Heathrow T2 Guardian Flex Height Warning System Installation

Product: Guardian Flex

Client: Dyer & Butler on behalf of Heathrow Airport

Location: Heathrow Airport Terminal 2

Heathrow has the capacity to handle over 80 million travellers a year. T2 was experiencing challenges whereby high vehicles were repeatedly damaging fixed warning signs which were costly to repair and posed a risk to drivers.

Having provided similar solutions at Blackwall, Dartford & Royal Mail tunnels, Simmonsigns has plenty of experience and potential solutions to offer.

Design meetings with Heathrow Airport and contractor Dyer & Butler led to a bespoke Guardian Flex chevron solution. The highly visible, reboundable Guardian Flex system selected also incorporates reflective graphics which meet requirements of BS8408:2005. The system has minimal maintenance as low level impacts cause little or no damage at all. In the event of severe impact, blades that are damaged can be removed individually and replaced as opposed to the whole system.

The Guardian Flex systems were installed in October 2020 and the initial customer feedback has been extremely positive.

Area Sales Manager, Duncan Wells, said "We are delighted to have worked in partnership with Heathrow Airport and Dyer & Butler, from a positive initial meeting right through to installation. The Guardian Flex installation at T2 is a robust and impressive looking height restriction system and we are proud with the results at such a significant site."
