Light Tile
Powered by
Light Tile helps to keep road users safer using interactive, light-emitting road marking to make traffic routes more visible. The high visibility LED panels deliver optimum performance day and night and in all weather conditions. The lighting system only activates when necessary to deliver maximum impact and warning for approaching motorists and other road users.
Light Tile can be activated by a number of detection systems including thermal cameras, traffic signals and pedestrian crossing lights, speed radar and AI computer vision.
The Light Tile panel is a 7mm multilayer compound with embedded LEDs that are bonded to the road surface. Installation is with a patented and non-toxic adhesive and wiring to connect the panels to the control unit is via a small groove in the road surface or pavement.
Use Light Tile for:
- Pedestrian crossings
- Bike crossings and cycle paths
- Dynamic 'Stop' message
- Speed moderation
- Traffic intersection
- Site entry/exit points
Features of Light Tile
- Light Tile panels are resistant to road traffic loads up to 13 tons per axle, equivalent to a 40-ton truck
- High skid resistance – minimum SRT of 0.45 (Tested to EN 1436) over 2 million rollovers
- Weather resistant to IPX8 – IPX9 (immersion)
- LED light colours – white, red, green, blue
- IK10 resistance to impact
- Range of standard panels (directional signs, chevrons, letters, numbers, cycle, round, rectangle, Stop) plus bespoke designs
- High visibility LEDs light up for a few seconds only when activated limiting power consumption
Case Study
Light Tile at Portsmouth Naval Base
Purpose-designed Light Tile crossing for a public path that runs through the Naval base.
Red lights bordering the walkway are triggered when a vehicle approaches so pedestrians know to wait until the path is clear.
Portsmouth City Centre
Dynamic pedestrian crossing in Clarendon Road connecting two large pedestrian areas.
